TUESDAY, MARCH 24, 1992 <br /> <br />Commission, was present and gave an update on the PDC's progress toward <br /> <br />Economic Development District designation. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council approved the <br /> <br />following grant applications by the ~olice Department: (1) Funding~. <br />from the Department of Criminal Justice Services to continue the' <br /> <br />"Enhanced Drug Enforcement and ProsecUtion" program ($38,672 of which <br />$9,668 is a 25% local match); and (2)· Funding through the Governor's <br />Office to continue their "Intensifie!t Drug Enforcement Assistance" <br />program ($54,272 of which $5,427.20 a 10% local match). In his <br />agenda comments, Mr. Reynolds explained that the local match funds <br />would come from the FY 92-93 Police ~partment budget request, which <br />budget proposal overall is less than i~he previous year's. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council scheduled a <br />Town Meeting for Tuesday, March 31, 1892 at 7:00 P.M. at the Virginia <br />Museum of Natural History. Mayor MqClain announced that it may be <br />necessary for Council to hold an ExecUtive Session in conjunction with <br />the Town Meeting in order to consider the acquisition of real property <br />for public purposes. <br /> <br />Council scheduled the following budget work sessions: April 8th at <br />2:00 (City Manager); April 14th at 1:00 (outside agencies and <br />Constitutional Officers); April 15th or 16th at 4:30 (Schools); and <br />April 28th at 2:00 (final work session if needed). After much <br />discussion, Council agreed that at the School Division budget work <br />session public input would be allowed after Council has concluded its <br />discussion with the School Board and School Administration.
