TUESDAY, MARCH 24 , 1992
limited to approximately two hours total time. Council also set May
12th as the date to finalize Council's tentative budget for FY 92-93
for public hearing purposes and decided to schedule a public hearing on
the proposed budget for May 26th.

In accordance with Section 2.1-344(A) of the CODE OF VIRGINIA (1950,
and as amended), and upon motion, duly seconded and carried by a
unanimous recorded vote, Council convened into Executive Session for
the purpose of considering (1) a personnel matter under the
jurisdiction of Council, as authorized by Subsection 1, and (2) the
acquisition of real property for public purposes, as authorized by
Subsection 3. At the conclusion of this Executive Session, Council
reconvened into regular session, wherein, by a recorded vote, each
member of Council certified that (1) only public business matters
exempted from open meeting requirements were discussed in said
Executive Session; and (2) only those business matters identified in
the motion convening the Executive Session were heard, discussed or
considered during said Session.

Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council set the
compensation for the Clerk of Council at $200 per meeting effective
March 1, 1992. Council noted that this would apply to Lance G. Heater
who has been appointed by Council to serve as Clerk, which duties are
in addition to those of his position as Assistant City Manager. Council
took no action on the other matter discussed in Executive Session.

Mayor McClain then declared the meeting adjourned.

Lac~eG.~,H~

Clerk of Council
