TUESDAY, OCTOBER 26, 1993 <br />After the invocation, followed by Mayor McClain's cordial welcome to <br />visitors present, Council approved the minutes of its meetings of <br />October 12 and 13, 1993 as circulated. <br /> <br />Council conducted a public hearing on a request by Lanier Farm, Inc. to <br />rezone Lots 42, 43 and 44 located on Parkview Avenue, from R-9 <br />Residential to C-1 Commercial. There being no comments from persons <br />present, Mayor McClain declared the public hearing closed. In response <br />to a question by Vice-Mayor Adams, James D. Coleman, Jr., President of <br />Lanier Farms, stated that one residential homeowner lived immediately <br />adjacent to the proposed rezoning, however, the homeowner did not <br />object to the rezoning. Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous <br />vote, Council adopted the following Ordinance: <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br />Virginia in regular session assembled this twenty-sixth day <br />of October, 1993, that the Zoning Map of the City of <br />Martinsville, Virginia, be--and is hereby--amended to the <br />extent that Lots 42, 43 and 44, located on Parkview Avenue <br />are hereby rezoned from R-9 Residential to C-1 Commercial. <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED by said Council, that, an emergency <br />existing, this ordinance shall be in force on and after <br />October 27, 1993. <br /> <br />Council conducted a public hearing on a request by the Planning <br />Commission that the proposed Land Use Plan be amended in order to <br />designate Lots 42, 43 and 44 as Commercial rather than Medium Density <br />Residential. There being no comments from persons present, Mayor <br />McClain declared the public hearing closed. Upon motion, duly seconded <br />and by unanimous vote, Council adopted the following Ordinance: <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br />Virginia, in regular meeting assembled October 26, 1993, that <br />the Land Use Plan of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, be-- <br />and is hereby--amended to the extent that Lots 42, 43, and 44 <br />located on Parkview Avenue, are hereby designated as being <br />for Commercial usage. <br /> <br /> <br />
