TUESDAY, OCTOBER 12. 1993 <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council set public <br />hearings for October 26, 1993 on the following items: (1) a request by <br />Lanier Farm, Inc., to rezone Lots 42, 43, and 44 located on Parkview <br />Avenue, from R-9 Residential to C-1 Commercial; and (2) a request by <br />the Planning Commission that the Proposed Land Use Plan be amended in <br />order to designate Lots 42, 43, and 44 located on Parkview Avenue as <br />Commercial rather than the current designation of Medium Density <br /> <br />Residential. <br /> <br />Council acknowledged a report on the 1994 United Way Campaign for City <br />employees in which Campaign Coordinator Richard D. Fitts reported that <br />City employees had contributed or pledged $8,658, which was 133.2% of <br />the goal of $6,500. All members of Council commended the City <br />employees for their generous contributions to the Campaign. <br /> <br />In matters not on the agenda, the following items were discussed: (1) <br />it was announced that all members of Council would be attending the <br />Annual Conference of the Virginia Municipal League to be held in <br />Richmond, October 17-19; (2) Councilman Draper referred to the City <br />Manager concerns expressed by citizens living in the vicinity of <br />Clearview Drive regarding disruptive activity occurring at a Clearview <br />Drive residence; (3) Councilman Draper referred to the City Manager <br />concerns expressed by citizens of Wingfield Street regarding the <br />continued availability of on-street parking in connection with the <br />proposed widening of Wingfield Street as a part of the Sara Lee Roy <br />Street Plant access road project; (4) Upon motion, duly seconded and by <br />unanimous vote, Council requested citizens of the City to observe <br />Halloween on Saturday, October 30, rather than Sunday, October 31, and <br />requested the Henry County Board of Supervisors join the Council by <br /> <br /> <br />
