TUESDAY, OCTOBER 12, 1993 law enforcement personnel; and WHEREAS, it is desirable that the City of Martinsville have available to it a reserve force from which temporary assistance can be drawn in time of need; and WHEREAS, this contingency is provided for by the Agreement proposed by the police chiefs and sheriffs of the West Piedmont Planning District, which Agreement provides the mechanism for the constitution of such a reserve force involving all local law enforcement agencies of Franklin, Henry, Patrick, and Pittsylvania Counties and those of the Cities of Danville and Martinsville and the Town of Rocky Mount; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, in regular session assembled October 12, 1993, that said Agreement, as recommended by the police chiefs and sheriffs of the West Piedmont Planning District, be, and the same hereby is, approved and implemented; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Chief of Police of the City of Martinsville be designated as the Chief Law Enforcement Officer under said Agreement and that he is hereby authorized to sign and implement the Agreement on behalf of the City of Martinsville. APPROVING AN AGREEMENT PROPOSED BY THE POLICE CHIEFS AND SHERIFFS OF THE WEST PIEDMONT PLANNING DISTRICT FOR A HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION SQUAD AND DESIGNATING THE POLICE CHIEF AS THE CHIEF LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER FOR THE CITY OF MARTINSVILLE UNDER SAID AGREEMENT AND AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF SAID AGREEMENT WHEREAS, an emergency situation may require the reinforcement of local law enforcement personnel; and WHEREAS, it is desirable that the City of Martinsville have available to it a reserve force from which temporary assistance can be drawn in time of need; and WHEREAS, this contingency is provided for by the Agreement proposed by the police chiefs and sheriffs of the West Piedmont Planning District, which Agreement provides the mechanism for the constitution of such a reserve force involving all local law enforcement agencies of Franklin, Henry, Patrick, and Pittsylvania Counties and those of the Cities of Danville and Martinsville and the Town of Rocky Mount; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, in regular session assembled October 12, 1993, that said Agreement, as recommended by the police chiefs and sheriffs of the West Piedmont Planning District, be, and the same hereby is, approved and implemented; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Chief of Police of the City of Martinsville be designated as the Chief Law Enforcement Officer under said Agreement and that he is hereby authorized to sign and implement the Agreement on behalf of the City of Martinsville.
