TUESDAY, JUNE 8, 1993 <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, in <br />regular session assembled June 8, 1993 that it does again offer the <br />improvements as detailed above should the voters of Henry County by <br />referendum choose to construct the new Henry County Courthouse facility <br />in the City of Martinsville and does hereby authorize the Mayor to <br />execute this agreement which, if co-signed by the Chairman of the Henry <br />County Board of Supervisors, will formally bind the City to providing <br />the aforesaid improvements should the Courthouse be constructed in the <br />City; and <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHERRESOLVED that a copy of this agreement be filed with the <br />Clerk of the Henry County Circuit Court. <br /> <br />The Mayor announced that the June 22, 1993 meeting of City Council <br />would be a Town Meeting held at Druid Hills Elementary School beginning <br /> <br />at 7:30 P.M. <br /> <br />Council conducted a public hearing to receive applications for <br />membership on the City's School Board for two positions which will <br />begin July 1, 1993 for 3-year terms. The Mayor noted that, in <br />accordance with the State Code, appointments to the Board could not be <br />made at this meeting and would instead be made at the June 22, 1993 <br />meeting. The Mayor read the names of those who had indicated interest <br />in appointment: J. A. "Sonny" Dykes of 1202 Corn Tassel Trail; Kitty <br />Green of 1225 MulberryRoad; Theresa Evatt Seay of 1010 Cherokee Trail; <br />Bernie F. Gray, Jr. of 914 Vine Street; Charles "Chuck" Davies, Jr. of <br />1234 Mulberry Road; Roger L. Young of 719 Mulberry Road; Robert H. <br />Bailey of 1920 Dundee Lane; Robert S. Lewis of 210 Thomas Heights; Joel <br />S. Baker of 1708 Spruce Street; Kathlyn Mitchell Foster of 708 Hunting <br />Ridge Road; and Robert A. Williams of 1119 Corn Tassel Trail. There <br />being no comments from persons present, Mayor McClain declared the <br />public hearing closed. <br /> <br />In accordance with Section 2.1-344(A) of the CODE OF VIRGINIA (1950, <br />and as amended), and upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, <br /> <br /> <br />
