It should be noted that all
candidates for the School Board, with the exception of J. A. Dykes (who
was away from the City), were interviewed by the Council during the
Executive Session.

Council asked the Mayor to write a letter on behalf of the Council to
Congressman L. F. Payne and Senators Charles Robb and John Warner
opposing the proposed "BTU tax" due to its impact on local governments.

Council asked the City Manager to submit an update report on the solid
waste transfer station proposals.

Council asked the City Manager to prepare a report on the City's
efforts in controlling illegal on-street activities, particularly in
the West side of the City.
