..TUESDAY, MAY 25, 1993 <br /> <br />regular session assembled May 25, 1993, that it does hereby amend <br />Chapter 12--Motor Vehicles and Traffic, Article III--Vehicle License, <br />Section 12-54--Issuance Decal for Vehicle Owned and Used by Disabled <br />Veteran of the City Code pursuant to §46.2-739 - 47.2-744, §46.2-745 <br />and §46.2-746 of the Code of Virginia (1950) as amended, thereby <br />providing for the exemption of or reduction in motor vehicle decal fees <br />for certain citizens, as follows: <br /> <br />Motor vehicle decal fees shall be exempted or reduced as follows: <br /> <br />(1) <br /> <br />Any veteran, who holds a current Virginia motor vehicle <br />registration card establishing that such person has received <br />a disabled veterans motor vehicle license plate as prescribed <br />in Section §46.2-739 of the Code of Virginia, shall be <br />entitled to receive a City License decal for one motor <br />vehicle owned and used personally by such disabled veteran <br />without payment of any license fee. <br /> <br />(2) <br /> <br />Any active member of the Virginia National Guard who holds a <br />current Virginia Motor Vehicle registration card establishing <br />that such person has received a special National Guard motor <br />vehicle license plate as prescribed in Section §46.2-744 of <br />the Code of Virginia, shall be entitled to receive a City <br />license decal for one motor vehicle owned and used personally <br />by such member of the National Guard for one-half the regular <br />City decal fee. <br /> <br />(3) <br /> <br />Any veteran, who holds a current Virginia motor vehicle <br />registration card establishing that such person has received <br />a Medal of Honor motor vehicle license plate as prescribed in <br />Section §46.2-745 of the Code of Virginia shall be entitled <br />to receive a City license decal for-one motor vehicle owned <br />and used personally by such Medal of Honor awardee without <br />payment of any license fee. <br /> <br />(4) <br /> <br />Any veteran, who holds a current Virginia motor vehicle <br />registration card establishing that such person has received <br />a Prisoner of War motor vehicle license plate as prescribed <br />in Section §46.2-746 of the Code of Virginia shall be <br />entitled to receive a City license decal for one motor <br />vehicle owned and used personally by such former Prisoner of <br />War without payment of any license fee. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council approved, on <br />first reading, Ordinance No. 93-5 amending Chapter 21 Taxation, Section <br />21-7 Real Estate Tax Exemption, Subsections (b)(1), (b)(2) and (b)(5) <br />of the City Code. <br /> <br />Council accepted a $2,337.89 refund from the Blue Ridge Regional <br />Library Literacy Program.
