TUESDAY, MAY 25, 1993 <br /> <br />present to explain the refund was being given because the program had <br />received a grant, thus enabling it to refund a portion of the City's <br />allocation to the program. Ms. Bell also stated the program would not <br />need an additional $3,280.25 to be allocated for the remainder of the <br />current fiscal year. <br /> <br />Council conducted a public hearing on the Budget and on tax rates for <br /> <br />FY 93-94. Vice-Mayor Adams noted the public hearing included the <br />increase in the real estate tax rate, the increase in the personal <br /> <br />property assessment ratio, and the imposition of a consumer utility tax <br />on telephone service. The following individuals spoke in favor of <br />increased funding for the SchoolSDivision and in favor of restoration <br />of the itinerant elementary music program: (1) Chuck Davies, 1234 <br />Mulberry Road; (2) Frank Novako~ski, 1109 Corn Tassel Trail; (3) <br />Theresa Seay, 1010 Cherokee Trail; (4) Carl Preston, 1151 ~, Church <br />Street; (5) Sandra Quinliven, 107 Sherwood Place; (6) Deborah McPeak, <br />of Henry County; (7) Curtis Givens, 207 Thomas Heights; (8) Sarah <br />Denton, 15 Henry Street; (9) Bill peterson, 1000 River Forest Place; <br />(10) Byron Corcoran, 1914 Dundee Lane; (11) Mark Black, owner of a <br />business located at 31 E. Main Street; (12) Lynn Gardner, of Henry <br />County; (13) Theresa Plegeman, 607 Mulberry Road; (14) Bill Krause, 610 <br />Hairston Street; (15) Grayson Givens, 101 Melrose Place; (16) Katie <br />Plegeman, 607 Mulberry Road; (17) Courtney Holland, elementarY school <br />student and County resident; (18) Donna Young, of Henry County; (19) <br />Judith Klein, 610 Hairston Street; (20) Susan Henderson, 717 Clarke <br />Road; (21) Harry Varn, Jr., 714 Corn Tassel Trail; and (22) Len Barrow, <br />of Henry County- In addition, Bruce Dallas, 211 Massey Street, spoke <br />in favor of the music program, but suggested the School Board could <br />restore the program by making cuts in the administration.
