TUESDAY, APRIL 27, 1993 <br />Council considered the budget request of the Adult Day Care Center of <br />Martinsville-Henry County. Alice Culler, Executive Director of the <br />Center, was present to make the budget request. The Center requested <br />funding in the amount of $10,000; the City Manager proposed funding in <br />the amount of $1,000 as a supplemental budget item. Ms. Culler <br />provided an update to Council on the client level and activities of the <br />Center. <br /> <br />81 <br /> <br />Council considered the budget request of Stepping Stones, Inc. Pamela <br />Morrison, Director, was present to make the budget request. The agency <br />requested funding in the amount of $20,000. The City Manager did not <br />recommend funding this agency's request. Ms. Morrison said the agency <br />serves the severely mentally handicapped, including three City <br />residents. <br /> <br />Council considered the budget request of CONTACT of Martinsville-Henry <br />County. Barbara Helmick, Executive Director of the agency, was present <br />to make the request. The agency requested funding in the amount of <br /> <br />$5,000. The City Manager's budget did not recommend funding for this <br />agency. <br /> <br />Council considered the budget request of Citizens Against Family <br />Violence. Lynn Wehlau, Executive Director of the agency, was present <br />to make the request. The agency requested funding in the amount of <br />$7,428. The City Manager recommended funding at the current level, <br />$2,500. Ms. Wehlau explained that her agency had experienced a 44% <br />increase in clients served since 1991. <br /> <br />Council considered the budget request of the City Treasurer.
