TUESDAY, APRIL 27, 1993 <br /> <br />Smith, Treasurer, was present to ask Council to increase funding for <br />her office in the amount of $5,000, which was cut from her request by <br />the City Manager. Increased funding would go toward maintenance and <br /> <br />support expenditures. <br /> <br />Council considered the budget request of the Registrar. Ercell Cowan, <br />Registrar, was present to make the request. Ms. Cowan asked for <br />increased funding in the amount of $1,100 to be used to increase the <br />hours worked and pay level of the Assistant Registrar. <br /> <br />Council considered the budget request of the Commissioner of Revenue. <br />J. Ronnie Minter, Commissioner, was present to voice support for the <br />City Manager's recommendation regarding his budget request. <br /> <br />There being no other persons present to make requests, Mayor McClain <br />declared the meeting in recess. <br /> <br />Council reconvened at 7:30 P.M. in the Council Chamber, to conduct the <br />regular agenda. <br /> <br />After the invocation, followed by Mayor McClain's cordial welcome to <br />visitors present, Council approved the minutes of its April 13, 1993 <br />meeting as circulated. <br /> <br />Under Business From the Floor, Reverend Jimmie Hawkins, 408 Second <br />Street, appeared to ask what actions Council planned to take in <br />response to the Governor's signing of House Bill 1553, which beginning <br />July 1, 1993 will enable the City to amend its Zoning Ordinance in <br />order to provide that an existing nonconforming use may be terminated <br /> <br /> <br />
