TUESDAY, JULY 26, 1994 <br />by which members of the Board of Zoning Appeals are appointed. <br />Currently, members are appointed by the Circuit Court Judge. The <br />amendment would allow the members to be appointed by City Council, <br />which is consistent with the provisions of the City Charter. Upon <br />motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council approved Ordinance <br />No. 94-7 on first reading. <br /> <br />3.15, <br /> <br />Council conducted a public hearing on a request by residents of <br />Crestwood Court and Cardinal Lane to close an abandoned 20-foot alley <br />located on the south side of Crestwood Court. Melvin Carter, 101 <br />Crestwood Court, spoke in support of the abandonment request. City <br />Manager Earl B. Reynolds, Jr. noted that, as a condition of <br />abandonment, the property owners would be required to pay 1/2 the <br />assessed valuation of the alley ($700) and would also be responsible <br />for preparation of the appropriate maps to be filed with the Circuit <br />Court Clerk. In response to concerns expressed by Vice-Mayor Oakes, <br />City Attorney David B. Worthy stated he would prepare an Ordinance for <br />adoption at Council's next meeting which would outline the conditions <br />by which the property will be abandoned. Upon motion, duly seconded <br />and by unanimous vote, Council endorsed the abandonment request, with <br />the Ordinance to be considered at the next meeting. <br /> <br />Council conducted a public hearing on a request by Darrell E. Campbell <br />to rezone Lot 37 located at 906-1/2 Bob Gregory Street, from R-9 <br />Residential to C-3 Commercial. There being no comment from any persons <br />present, Mayor Adams declared the public hearing closed.
