MONDAY, APRIL 25. 1994 <br />Councilman Teague stated he would be in favor of providing an <br />additional $40,000 to fund computer technology for the School Division, <br />which he would prefer the School Board use to put a computer in every <br />classroom in Grades K-3. Councilman Teague stated he would like to see <br />the School Board develop a 2-5 year plan to direct the purchase of <br />computer technology equipment. Upon motion, duly seconded and by a <br />vote of 3 "yes" and 2 "no" (Mayor McClain and Vice-Mayor Adams), <br />Council approved an additional appropriation of $40,000 to be taken <br />from the Meals Tax Fund for School Division computer technology. <br /> <br />In reviewing items recommended for funding by the City Manager in the <br />Priority I Supplemental Budget, the Healthy Start Program budget <br />request was discussed. No motion was made to fund the request, <br />however, Mayor McClain suggested that Council could reconsider the <br />funding request if the program is unable to obtain grant funding. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council approved an <br />additional appropriation for the Piedmont Regional Community Services <br />Board in the amount of $1,272, making the total FY 94-95 budget for <br />this line item $43,666. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and by a vote of 4 "yes" and 1 "no" <br />(Councilman Oakes), Council approved an appropriation of $2,500 for the <br />Pittsylvania County Community Action Agency. Councilman Oakes noted <br />his negative vote on this appropriation was due to his opposition to <br />funding any new agencies. <br /> <br />upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council approved an <br />additional appropriation of S5,000 for the Uptown Revitalization <br /> <br /> <br />
