The City Sheriff was awarded $10,835 of which $421 was <br />a local match. Sheriff Steve M. Draper explained the funds, if <br />appropriated, would be used to purchase two computers and related <br />equipment. The City Manager reported that an estimate had been <br />obtained for the construction of a roof over the drive-through window <br />area at the Treasurer's Office in the amount of $21,890. Several <br />members of Council suggested this item be considered in the FY 94-95 <br />Capital Expenditure Program. Upon motion, duly seconded and by <br />unanimous vote, Council approved the appropriations as requested for <br />the Commonwealth's Attorney and Sheriff, with the understanding that <br />the local match for the two appropriations would be taken from funds <br />available in the FY 93-94 Capital Expenditure Program resulting from <br />purchased items costing less than originally forecast. <br /> <br />The City Manager announced the City had received approval from the <br />Department of Environmental Quality of its request to continue <br />operations at the City Landfill until the facility's vertical capacity <br />is reached, subject to certain conditions. <br /> <br />The Mayor reminded those in attendance that the January 25, 1994 <br />meeting of City Council would be a Neighborhood Town Meeting to be held <br />at Clearview Elementary School. <br /> <br />In accordance with the CODE OF VIRGINIA (1950, and as amended) and upon <br />motion, duly seconded and by unanimous recorded vote, Council convened <br />into Executive Session for the purpose of discussing the following: <br />(1) an appointment to the West Piedmont Planning District Commission <br />Board; (2) a contractual matter, as authorized by Subsection 7; (3) <br /> <br /> <br />
