TUESDAY. DECEMBER 8. 1998 <br /> intersection of Woodrow Street. Mr. Wayne Knox, Planning, Zoning and Housing Director, provided <br /> <br />t", background information on the request. Reverend Joseph Hamilton of the Spring Street Baptist Church was <br /> present to elaborate on the Church's request and their intent for the use of the property, stating that a new <br /> drain pipe was to be installed on the property to improve drainage on the entire site. Reverend Hamilton also <br /> asked that the $700 assessment fee on the property be waived. The Public Heating was opened and <br /> Reverend Hamilton spoke in favor of the requested abandonment of the property in question, to provide for a <br /> needed drainage project. No other speakers came forward and the Public Hearing was closed. Council then <br /> voted its approval of the requested abandonment, by the following vote, all members voting: <br /> Vote: 5-0 <br /> <br /> Yeas: (5) Crabtree, Dallas, Haskell, Roop, Teague. <br /> <br /> Nays: (0) None. <br /> <br /> Council then considered the request for waiver of the $700 assessment fee. Following some <br /> <br />?-,. discussion Council approved waiver of 70% of the fee by the following vote, all members voting: <br /> <br /> Vote: 4-1 <br /> <br /> Yeas: (4) Crabtree, Haskell, Roop, Teague. <br /> <br /> Nays: (1) Dallas. <br /> <br />Council next considered adoption of a resolution recognizing the Old Dominion Search and Rescue Team as <br />an Emergency Services Agency operating within the City of Martinsville.
