TUESDAY. DECEMBER 8. 1998 WHEREAS, the OLD DOMINION SEARCH AND RESCUE TEAM, INC., was formed in 1995 in an effort to provide the citizens of our area with immediate assistance in life threatening, missing person(s), aircraft and/or watercraft incidents; and WHEREAS, the OLD DOMINION SEARCH AND RESCUE TEAM, INC., received a Memorandum of Understanding in 1998 by the Virginia Department of Emergency Services to provide wilderness search and rescue; and WHEREAS, Section 15.2-955 of the Code of Virginia requires the governing body to approve by Resolution the recognition of the OLD DOMINION SEARCH AND RESCUE TEAM, INC., as an Emergency Service Agency; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, in regular session assembled December 8, 1998, that this Resolution shall constitute a statement of need and approval of services operation by the OLD DOMINION SEARCH AND RESCUE TEAM, INC., to serve as a ground, search and rescue organization and emergency services provider while providing services as a search and rescue organization; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by said Council that the OLD DOMINION SEARCH AND RESCUE TEAM, INC., acting in its capacity as a ground, search and rescue organization, shall be subject to applicable rules and regulations of the Virginia Department of Emergency Services. Vote: 5-0 Yeas: (5) Crabtree, Dallas, Haskell, Roop, Teague. Nays: (0) None. Council next considered the need to meet in Executive Session. In accordance with Section 2.1-344 (A) of the CODE OF VIRGINIA (1950, and as amended) and upon motion, duly seconded, and by unanimous recorded vote, Council convened in Executive Session for the purpose of discussing the following matters: Appointments/Reappointments to various Boards/Commissions, as authorized by Subsection 1. 1. West Piedmont Planning District Technical Advisory Committee. (One four-year term) ANCHOR Group Home System Commission. (One four-year term)
