, TIJESDAY, DECEMBER 8. 1998 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Martinsville High School Golf Team completed its regular 1998 season as the Piedmont <br />District Champions with a 9-1 record; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Martinsville Golf Team successfully earned the title of Region IV State Champions for the <br />1998 season; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Golf Team advanced in the Virginia High School League Group AA to become State <br />runner ups; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Team effort, the sportsmanship, the determination, the skill and the ability displayed by this <br />golf team and its coach exemplifies the spirit and quality of the young people of our community and the <br />athletic programs in our schools; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, in regular session assembled <br />December 8, 1998, that it does hereby recognize and congratulate the young people who make up the <br />Martinsville High School Golf Team along with Coach Gene Fain on their outstanding achievement. <br /> <br />The above Resolution was approved by Council upon the following vote, all members voting: <br /> <br />Vote: 5-0 <br /> <br />Yeas: (5) Crabtree, Dallas, Haskell, Roop, Teague. <br /> <br />Nays: (0) None. <br /> <br /> Council next considered the need to hold a Town Meeting. Ms. Brenda Prillaman, Customer Service <br />Representative, provided Council with a report on the history of concerns and complaints from the <br />neighborhood during the past year, noting that most had to do with public works and zoning issues. There <br />were no speakers at the Town Meeting. <br /> <br /> Council next considered the need to hold a Public Hearing on a request by Spring Street Baptist <br />Church to abandon an unopened alley, 11.93 x 96.24 feet, located on the north side of Spring Street near the <br /> <br /> <br />
