THURSDAY, AUGUST 25, 1995 See that funds for education are well used and well managed. Influence the goals on education. Seek compatible goals and objectives. Seek compatible action steps on common goals. Objective: Identify common goals from the Community-in- Transition report and develop joint strategies for implementation. Objective: Develop County support for the development of community and regional strategies. Objective: Develop a plan that will make the land use strategies of both the City and County compatible. Action Step: Arrange for City and County Planning Commissions to meet with Council and Supervisors to identify areas of potential land use incompatibilities and infrastructure issues. Objective: Identify joint revenue sharing opportunities. Objective: Evaluate progress on 1994-1995 City-County strategic plan and reorder priorities as required. Objective: Monitor budget strategies developed in 1994-95 with City schools. Objective: Explore ways that the financial systems of the City and the public schools can be coordinated and integrated. Objective: Identify priorities for 1995-96 School/City retreat and identify progress on objectives determined to be important in last year's retreat. Council took a 30 minute recess at 10:00 am, and then returned to their work session to take up discussion of development of capital investment strategies. This discussion continued until 12:00 noon, at which time Council recessed for lunch. The Retreat session resumed at 1:00 ~pm, and Council continued their discussion of capital investment issues, along with revenue, finance, and other related issues. The following Capital Project Plans and Priorities list was produced from this discussion: Council agreed that it would identify capital projects by category as follows: CATEGORY I Projects which need strategic plans this year.
