WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 16, 1995 <br /> <br />common good, and leaders take a public stand to <br />articulate our community's values. <br /> <br />*Each citizen actively participates in the <br />community's life and becomes part of the fabric of <br />the community. <br /> <br />*Cultural differences are accepted, and citizens <br />have mutual respect for one another regardless of <br />race, sex, religion, class or ability. <br /> <br />*The rule of law is cherished; all citizens <br />support the law and are its equal beneficiaries. <br /> <br />*Honest, open communication is valued and <br />encouraged. <br /> <br />*Economic advancement is available to all through <br />a strong and growing economy. <br /> <br />*All citizens have the educational and cultural <br />opportunity to realize their fullest potential. <br /> <br />*African-Americans and other minorities are <br />strongly involved in activities and senior <br />leadership positions throughout the community's <br />public, private and educational sectors. <br /> <br />*Youth are nurtured and provided wholesome <br />opportunities to develop self-esteem and become <br />responsible, respected members of the community. <br /> <br />*The appearance of our area reflects the spirit <br />and Vision of our community and is a source of <br />community pride and enjoyment. <br /> <br />The following individuals who were present were appointed Ambassadors <br />and were presented certificates designating them as such: Nancy <br />Bradshaw, Paula Burnette, Jacques Dionne, Shirley Flippen, Gall <br />Gregory, Elizabeth Haskell, Charles E. Humkey, Jr., Robert G. Humkey, <br />C. Lee Lintecum, Myrtle Penn, Sid Rosenbaum, and Simon Spencer. <br />Ambassadors who were not present but who were appointed in absentia <br />were: Ellen Bell, Noel Chitwood, and Joe Finley. <br /> <br />At this point the meeting was recessed to allow the members of the <br /> <br />Board and Council to eat dinner. <br /> <br /> <br />
