3.80 <br /> <br />WEDNESDAY. AUGUST 16, 1995 <br /> <br />The meeting was reconvened to consider a report on the status of a <br />possible merger of the City and County Social Services Departments. <br />County Administrator Robert P. Lawler, Jr. and City Manager Earl B. <br />Reynolds, Jr. briefly reviewed the work which had been done to date on <br />the merger study. <br /> <br />In accordance with Section 2.1-344 (A) of the CODE OF VIRGINIA (1950, <br />and as amended) and upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous <br />recorded vote, Council (along with the Board of Supervisors in separate <br />motions and votes) convened into Executive Session for the purpose of <br />discussing the following matters: (1) the possible acquisition of real <br />property for public purposes, as authorized by Subsection 3; and (2) <br />consultation with legal counsel, as authorized by Subsection 7. At the <br />conclusion of this Executive Session, each member of Council certified <br />that (1) only 'public business matters exempt from open meeting <br />requirements were discussed in said Executive Session; and (2) only <br />those business matters identified in the motion convening the Executive <br />Session were heard, discussed or considered during said Session. <br /> <br />There was no action taken on the items discussed in Executive Session. <br />Mayor Adams read the following statement for the media: "Council and <br />the Board received the Social Services Study Committee's Report on <br />possible facility options for joint agency operation. We have asked <br />the Committee to develop some additional information for our meeting on <br />September 11.
