Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, <br />Council adopted the following Ordinance: <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br />Virginia in regular session assembled this ninth day of May, <br />1995, that the Zoning Map of the City of Martinsville, <br />Virginia, be--and is hereby--amended to the extent that Lots <br />4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 52A, 53A, 54, 55, 56 of Section 31, Block 2, <br />K., and Lots 1 through 9, Section 31, Block 5, on the Tax Map <br />of the City of Martinsville are hereby rezoned from C-3 <br />Commercial to R-6 Residential. <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED by said Council, that, an emergency <br />existing, this ordinance shall be in force on and after May <br />10, 1995. <br /> <br />Council conducted a public hearing on an amendment to the City's <br />Proposed Land Use Plan as a result of the rezoning request. There <br />being no public comment, Mayor Adams declared the public hearing <br />closed. Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council <br />adopted the following Ordinance: <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br />Virginia, in regular meeting assembled May 9, 1995, that the <br />Land Use Plan of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, be--and <br />is hereby--amended to the extent that Lots 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, <br />52A, 53A, 54, 55, 56 of Section 31, Block 2, K., and Lots 1 <br />through 9, Section 31, Block 5, on the Tax Map of the City of <br />Martinsville be and are hereby designated as being for High <br />Density Residential usage. <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED by said Council that, an emergency <br />existing, this ordinance shall be in force on and after May <br />10, 1995. <br /> <br />Council conducted a public hearing on the proposed FY 95-96 Budget. <br />Mayor Adams gave a brief summary of the budget, noting that no action <br />could be taken to adopt the budget at this meeting due to the statutory <br />waiting period after the public hearing. City Manager Earl B. <br />Reynolds, Jr. announced the City and the Martinsville Uptown <br />Revitalization Association had received the designation as a Main <br />Street Community from the State of Virginia.
