TUESDAY, APRIL 25, 1995 <br /> <br />insurance coverage for retired employees as a possible area where a <br />contribution may be required in future years from the retired employees <br />in order to pay a portion of this expense. <br /> <br />At this point the meeting was recessed and reconvened in the Circuit <br />Courtroom forthe purpose of considering items in conjunction with the <br /> <br />Planning Commission. <br /> <br />The following members of the Planning Commission were present: J. <br />RonaldFerrill, Jean P. Wilson, Shelton H. Blackwell, Jr., William R. <br />Hopkins, Donald A. Smith, and Thomas F. Harris. <br /> <br />After the invocation, followed by Mayor Adams' cordial welcome to <br />visitors present, the first item to be considered was to conduct a <br />joint public hearing with the Planning Commission on Ordinance No. 95-3 <br />amending the City Code, AppendixB--Zoning Ordinance, Section XIII-- <br />Manufacturing Districts, by adding a new' classification known as B-1 <br />Business District. Community Development Coordinator Tom Harned <br />explained the change in the Zoning Ordinance was necessary as the first <br />step of a two-step process in allowing for the development of the <br />proposed Clearview Business Park. The change in the Zoning Ordinance <br />would create the B-1 Business District, thereby allowing the second <br />step, which would be to rezone the property from R-9 Residential to B-1 <br />Business. Mr. Harned played a video tape, which was taken by Mayor <br />Adams' son, of a business~park in.Indianapolis, Indiana. The Planning <br />Commission opened its public hearing, with Duane Jordon, representing <br />the Martinsville Church of~ God, Speaking i'n favor of the concept. <br />James Willjams, 600 Third Street, questioned the comparison between <br />Martinsville and Indiana. The Planning Commission, after closing the <br /> <br /> <br />
