Ridge Regional Library in which he had removed 83,601 from the <br />supplemental budget for the Library. Mr. Reynolds said this would <br />grant the Library an overall increase in City funding of 2%, which is <br />in line with the City's overall revenue growth. Mr. Reynolds had <br />recommended funding for three agencies which had not received City <br />fundin~ i~ the ~aS~, These were the Adult Day Care Center ($500), <br />FOCUS ($1,~0~0),.' ~d t~e Southside Virginia Business and Education <br />Commissio~ ~($50~),. U~n motion, d~ seconded and by a vote of 3-2 <br />( Councilme~ WiX,~a~.s a~ Cr~btree ve~p~ "n~ ), Co~cil~ removed fundie~ <br />for the AdUlt ~ay Care Oe~ter. Upon motion, duly seconded and by a <br />vote of 4,~ ('Vi~e-Ma~o~ O~kes votin~ 'no"), ~il approved fundin~ <br />for FOCUS. For l~Ok ~ a motion to approve, Council removed fundin~ <br />for the Soughs,de Virginia B~iness ~d Educati~ C~mission. <br /> <br />Mr. Reynolds reVlewe~ the.recommendation for ~he City S~hool Division. <br />Mr~ Reynolds reOom~e~edtotal School fundin~ of 815,610,140 (Meals Tax <br />Fund and Sohoo~ "F~d), with 86,558,601being recommended as a transfer <br />from the GeDera,·'FUnd to the School Fund, which is an increase of 9.07% <br />in local fUDdin~. Several Councilmen expressed·support for the City <br />Manager's recommendation. ~ Councilman Willjams spoke against the <br />proposed addition of a Police School ResourCe Officer to the School <br />Division. Upon motion, duly seconded and by a·vOte of 4-1 (Councilman <br />Willjams voting against due strictly to his obj/ection reOarding the <br />Resource Officer), Council tentatively approved t~e 'School Division <br />budget as recommended by the City Manager. <br /> <br />Mayor Adams stated that he was supportive of City fundin~ for leisure <br />activities as opposed to the current.emphasis on competitive sports. <br />Mayor Adams also cited the $95,755 budgeted for payment of medical <br /> <br /> <br />
