TUESDAY, APRIL 25, 1995 <br /> <br /> A regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of <br /> Martinsville, Virginia, with Mayor George B. Adams, Jr. presiding, was <br /> <br /> held Tuesday, April 25, 1995 in the Council Chamber~ City Hall, <br /> ~g{~f~':'~;~ 5~.:30':!~.~i~:~.':;The'following members of Council were present <br /> ~'~e ~eginnin~:i~;~f ' ~' me~ing:. George B, Adams, Jr,, Mayor; L, D, <br />~"::0a~s, Vice-Mayor; M. Gene Teague; and Clyde L. Willjams. Absent 'at <br />~"~hei.;beg~nning of the.:.meeting was Councilman Mark Crabtree due to the <br />:~=:'~l&rg~ fire at the old American Furniture plant, which' is in close <br /> <br /> ~oximity to Dr. Crabtree's dental office. <br /> <br />'~Th~iC6uncil began the meeting at 5:30 P.M. in order to continue its <br /> <br /> review of the City Manager's proposed FY 95-96 budget. City Manager <br /> <br />Earl B. Reynolds, Jr. reviewed revised recommendations for funding of <br />outside agencies. The Piedmont Regional Community Services Board was <br />recommended for $43',666 in the basic budget andnot recommended for the <br /> <br />additional 81,310 which was requested by the Board. The West Piedmont <br />Planning District Commission's funding recommendation had been reduced <br />from $6,142 in the basic budget and $1,939 in!'the supplemental budget <br />to'only $6,142 due to.. the Commission's receiving additional State <br />f~nding which made added.local funding unnecessary. Regarding the VPI <br /> <br />Extension Service, Council agreed with Mayor Adams that the 8500 <br /> <br />recommended in the supplemental budget should be removed. <br /> <br />At this point (6:10 P.M.), Councilman Crabtree arrived at the meeting, <br />and gave an update on the fire. <br /> <br />Regarding the Blue Ridge Airport, Councilman Willjams expressed regret <br />that no representative of the Airport had appeared to make the budget <br />request. Mr. Reynolds reported a revised proposed budget for the Blue <br /> <br /> <br />
