Carolyn Beale, Chairman of the Foundation Board, was <br />present to request $10,000 for FY 95-96. The City Manager recommended <br />$7,500 in the basic budget (the same level as FY 94-95) and $2,500 in <br />the supplemental budget, to be funded by the Capital Reserve Fund. Ms. <br />Beale not~~ ~t~e past year, the Foundation had planted more than <br />400 trees. <br /> <br />Sherman SaUnde~S. E~cut~ve DirectOr of the Pittsylvania County <br />Community ActionA~e~cy, was present to request a City contribution of <br />$30,299 for FY 95-96. The City Manager recommended level funding of <br />$2,500. Mr. Saunder$ stated the Agency had served 509 clients in the <br />City during FY 93-94. <br /> <br />Henry Gilbert, Director of the Martinsvi]le-Her~TyCOUn~yE-911 Center, <br />was present to request funding for the Center's ~pera~ion in the amount <br />of $160,067 and $6,820 for improvements to the Eme;gency Operations <br />Center. The City Manager had included 8~48,833 ~ the ~asic budget and <br />$14,187 in the supplemental budget f~r oeer~tions and 86,820 for <br />Emergency Operations Centerimprovement8. It was noted that the City <br />Manager would review the ~ud~et request a~ me~e the appropriate <br />adjustments prior to final consideration. Xn reepOnse to questions <br />from members of Council, Mr. Gilbert said 58,000 emergency units had <br />been dispatched in the City and County in 1994. Mr. Gilbert expressed <br />concern regarding the possibility of volunteer rescue squad members <br />experiencing "burnout" due to the high call volume. <br /> <br /> <br />
