Some objectives of the Department:
(1) Increase participation; (2) Organize new programs; (3) Solicit more
partnerships with business and industry; (4) Solicit volunteers for the
programs; and (5) Continue to work with organizations. Mr. Hughes
noted that all of the City's park facilities needed new lighting.

Mr. Hughes, who oversees the National Guard Armory, noted accomplish-
ments this year of (1) New lights inside and (2) Replacement of floor
in the Drill Hall. His objective was to replace the boiler which is 31
years old.

Director of Senior Services Betsy Pace noted some accomplishments of
the Senior Center, especially the acquisition of a bus for transpor-
tation purposes and a radio system to assist with transportation, etc.
Ms. Pace stated: (1) The Center would be receiving $25,000 from the
Southern Area Agency on Aging for their operations and (2) they were
requesting a full-time secretary for the Center. She had to rely upon
volunteer help or part-time people through SAAA resulting in a great
deal of turn-over and lack of continuity and dependability.

Mr. Tom Harned explained the Housing budget which includes rental
assistance and the neighborhood rehabilitation Community Development
