184 <br /> <br />MONDAY, JULY 1, 1996 <br /> <br />three-to-two. Mr. Pritchett then administered the oath of office to <br />Mayor Adams. Mr. Pritchett stepped down and turned the meeting over to <br /> <br />Mayor Adams. <br /> <br />Mayor Adams asked for nominations for the position of Vice-Mayor. <br />Council Member Dallas nominated Council Member Haskell for Vice-Mayor. <br />Council Member Teague nominated Council Member Crabtree for Vice-Mayor. <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous approval the nominations <br />for Vice-Mayor were closed. The Mayor called for a show of hands for <br />the election of Council Member Haskell (two votes--Council Members <br />Haskell and Dallas) and Council Member Crabtree (three votes--Mayor <br />Adams, Council Members Crabtree and Teague) for Vice-Mayor. The Mayor <br />declared that Council Member Mark A. Crabtree would be Vice-Mayor on a <br />vote of three-to-two. Mr. Pritchett then administered the oath of <br />office to Vice-Mayor Crabtree. Mayor Adams then asked Vice-Mayor <br />Crabtree to take the chair to his right and the other members of <br />Council chose the chairs they would sit in for the next two years. <br /> <br />Mayor Adams asked each member of Council if they had any remarks. <br />Council Member Dallas thanked the people for showing confidence in him <br />by their votes and that he would work to the best of his ability to <br />fulfill the needs of the citizens. Vice-Mayor Crabtree welcomed the <br />two new members of Council and expressed his desire to develop a good <br />working relationship with them as well as the two experienced members. <br />Council Member Teague thanked his family, friends and the citizens for <br />their support during the campaign and his past service on the Council. <br />He noted that he ran his campaign on the following issues and will work <br />to accomplish these things: Economic Development, Clearview Business <br />Park, Education--Technology, Community Development--appearance of our <br /> <br /> <br />
