122 <br /> <br />TUESDAY, MARCH 26, 1996 <br /> <br />Department of Housing and Community Development to review the <br />boundaries of planning districts and issue a report and recommendation <br />for any changes across the State. Upon motion, duly seconded and by <br />unanimous vote, Council adopted the following Resolution: <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Martinsville has been a charter member of the West <br />Piedmont Planning District Commission since on or before March 1970; <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Commonwealth of Virginia through the Virginia Department <br />of Housing and Community Development is conducting a review of the <br />boundaries of planning districts required under the Regional <br />Cooperation Act of 1995; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, we are hereby declaring our satisfaction with the West <br />Piedmont Planning District Commission and its staff's services now <br />being given both in local assistance and in regional planning, as well <br />as, economic development and other areas critical to our future as the <br />Commission addresses the needs of the West Piedmont Planning District <br />region of Virginia; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the alignment with the West Piedmont Planning District and <br />membership in its Commission is sensible and has worked effectively for <br />twenty-six years; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, we desire to remain geographically related with the other <br />current members of the West Piedmont Planning District and its <br />Commission; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, in <br />regular session assembled March 26, 1996, that it does hereby express <br />its desire and inten~ to remain a charter member of the West Piedmont <br />Planning District Commission and to be included in the West Piedmont <br />Planning District. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council accepted <br />$1,915.65 received as forfeited asset funds from the State government <br />and appropriated the funds to the Police Department's FY 95-96 budget <br />to be used for law enforcement purposes. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council approved a <br />supplemental appropriation to the FY 95-96 Electric Department budget <br />in the amount of $16,200, to be taken from the Electric Fund unexpended <br />fund balance and to be used for repairs to a bucket truck. <br /> <br /> <br />
