TUESDAY, JANUARY 23, 1996 <br /> <br />used for the electronic village concept; (2) Vice-Mayor Oakes said he <br />would like to see the City better utilize the government cable channel; <br />(3) in response to a question from Councilman Willjams, it was noted <br />that a private firm was developing the City Directory and was making <br />telephone contact with a large number of citizens; (4) Mr. Reynolds <br />noted community meetings had been held during the day on the Albert <br />Harris renovation project; (5) in response to a question from <br />Councilman Teague, Mr. Reynolds said he would be working in the future <br />on setting a meeting with Virginia Department of Transportation <br />officials regarding the Liberty/Clearview/Stultz intersection pro3ect; <br />(6) Assistant City Manager Dewey Cashwell noted this meeting marked his <br />two year anniversary of employment with the City, describing the <br />experience as the best of his professional life; and (7) Vice-Mayor <br />Oakes announced he would be away from the City for the next two Council <br />meetings. <br /> <br />In accordance with Section 2.1-344 (A) of the CODE OF VIRGINIA (1950, <br />and as amended) and upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous <br />recorded vote, Council convened into Executive Session for the purpose <br />of discussing the following matters: (1) appointments to boards and <br />commissions, as authorized by Subsection 1; (2) a prospective business <br />or industry or expansion of an existing business or industry where no <br />previous announcement has been made of the business' or industry's <br />interest in locating or expanding its facilities in the community, as <br />authorized by Subsection 5; (3) the investing of public funds where <br />competition or bargaining is involved, as authorized by Subsection 6; <br />and (4) the investing of public funds where competition or bargaining <br />is involved, as authorized by Subsection 6.
