TUESDAY, JANUARY 23, 1996 <br />public business matters exempt from open meeting requirements were <br />discussed in said Executive Session; and (2) only those business <br />matters identified in the motion convening the Executive Session were <br />heard, discussed or considered during said Session. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council appointed <br />James R. "Butch" Mason, Jr., 1247 Lanier Road, to the Planning <br />Commission to fill an unexpired term ending June 30, 1998. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council appointed <br />Thelma Pinkard, 208 Park Street, to the Drug Task Force of <br />Martinsville-Henry County Board of Directors to fill an unexpired term <br />ending June 30, 1999. <br /> <br />Council took no action on an appointment to the Patrick Henry <br />Development Council Board, which was discussed in Executive Session. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council concurred <br />with the Henry County Board of Supervisors and appointed the following <br />representatives to a one-year term on a Travel/Tourism Task Force and <br />to request the Task Force to submit a report to the Board and Council <br />in June, 1996: Donald Sutton, of the Virginia Museum of Natural <br />History; Krista Vannoy, of the Martinsville Uptown Revitalization <br />Association; John Grooms, of Fairystone State Park; and Sherry Ramsey <br />of the Patrick Henry Development Council. Council also indicated its <br />willingness to appoint a representative of Piedmont Arts, Martinsville <br />Speedway, and the Martinsville-Henry County Chamber of Commerce if <br />nominees from these organizations are submitted. <br /> <br /> <br />
