TUESDAY, JANUARY 23, 1996 <br /> <br />Virginia, in regular session assembled this twenty-third day <br />of January, 1996, that in order to assure compliance with <br />Virginia Code Section 15.5-491 (G), it is stated that the <br />public purpose for which this Resolution is initiated is to <br />fulfill the requirements of public necessity, convenience, <br />general welfare and good zoning practice, that the Zoning Map <br />of the City of Martinsville, Virginia be -- and is hereby -- <br />amended to the extent that Section 33, Block (3) 0, Lot 4-R, <br />on the Tax Map of the City of Martinsville is hereby rezoned <br />from R-6 Residential to C-1A Intermediate Commercial. <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED by said Council, that, an emergency <br />existing, this ordinance shall be in force on and after <br />January 24, 1996. <br /> <br />Council considered conducting a public hearing on an amendment to the <br />Proposed Land Use Map in order to redesignate Lot 4R at 112 Maple <br />Street as Commercial rather than High-Density Residential. Wayne Knox, <br />Planning, Zoning and Housing Manager, noted the Planning Commission had <br />unanimously voted to recommend approval of the amendment. There being <br />no comments from persons present on this matter, Mayor Adams declared <br />the public hearing closed.
