TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 28, 1995 <br /> <br />City Code related to the abatement and removal of nuisances on any lot <br />or parcel of land in the City. There being no comments from persons <br />present, Mayor Adams declared the public hearing closed. Upon motion, <br />duly seconded and by unanimous vote, the Ordinance was approved on <br />first reading. <br /> <br />Council conducted a public hearing on Ordinance No. 95-12 to amend <br />Chapter 13--Offenses-Miscellaneous, Section 13-36--Open storage of <br />inoperative motor vehicles on property zoned residential or <br />professional. Gloria Hylton, 402 Second Street, asked whether the <br />proposed Ordinance would address the storage of boats on City streets. <br />City Attorney Worthy stated this issue may need to be addressed in a <br />separate Ordinance. David Doss (no address provided) stated he would <br />like to see the Ordinance address the regulation of storage trailers. <br />Tommy Slaughter, Chairman of Clean Community, expressed support for the <br />Ordinance and encouraged the County to adopt a similar measure. In <br />response to a question from Mayor Adams, Mr. Baker stated the Ordinance <br />would be applied to areas zoned professional in that they would be <br />included in the "commercial" language contained in the Ordinance. Upon <br />motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council approved the <br />Ordinance on first reading. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council adopted the <br />following Resolution: <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Martinsville recognizes that, as a <br />result of changes in traffic patterns and development throughout and <br />around the City, the City's highway construction needs have changed; <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, at a City Council work session held on January 12, 1995, it <br />was agreed by the Council of the City of Martinsville that the City's <br />list of urban projects contained in the Virginia Department of <br />Transportation's Six-Year Improvement Program needed to be revised to <br /> <br /> <br />
