MONDAY, NOVEMBER 13, 1995 <br />Fund for professional services to cover an agreement with Strollo, <br />Inc., Architects, to complete plans to expand the City Jail. The Mayor <br />noted Sheriff Steve Draper had reported the Jail was responsible for 99 <br />inmates on November 11, 1995, 63 of whom were housed in the City Jail. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council endorsed the <br />following individuals as Ambassadors for the Visioning process of the <br />Community-in-Transition Action Council: Barry Barker, Mike Drahush, <br />Rev. Jimmie Hawkins, Fred Herring, Randy Joyce, Amy Lampe, Kelvin <br />Perry, and Sammy Redd. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council set the <br />following public hearings for November 28, 1995: (1) on Ordinance No. <br />95-10 to make the BOCA National Property Maintenance Code/1993, Volume <br />II of the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code, a part of the City <br />Code; (2) on Ordinance No. 95-11 to amend the City Code relatedto 'the <br />abatement and removal of nuisances on any lot or parcel of land in the <br />City; and (3) on Ordinance No. 95-12 to amend Chapter 13--Offenses- <br />Miscellaneous, Section 13-36--Open storage of inoperative motor <br />vehicles on property zoned residential or professional. In response to <br />an inquiry from Mayor Adams, City Manager Earl B. Reynolds, Jr. stated <br />the staff would be reviewing the level of fines contained in the <br />proposed Ordinance No. 95-10 to determine whether they were too low. <br />In response to a question from Vice-Mayor Oakes, Mr. Reynolds said the <br />Staff would be conducting community meetings to inform the public <br />regarding the proposed Ordinances. <br /> <br />In matters not on the agenda, the following items were discussed: (1) <br />in response to a question from Vice-Mayor Oakes, Mr. Reynolds stated <br /> <br /> <br />
