appreciation to City <br />Heritage Festival. <br /> <br />Staff for their <br /> <br /> TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 26, 1995 <br />assistance with the Indian <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council adopted, on <br />second reading, Ordinance No. 95-9, amending the City's Animal Control <br />Ordinance, a full copy of which is on file with the Clerk of Council. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council set a public <br />hearing for October 12, 1995 in order to receive applicants for the <br />School Board to fill an unexpired term ending June 30, 1996. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council appropriated <br />to the Capital Reserve Fund line item Professional Services, $4,300 as <br />the City's share of the cost of the study to merge the City's and Henry <br />County's Social Services Departments. It was noted Council, on March <br />29, 1995, had authorized participation with Henry County for Smith & <br />Beasley Architects to conduct the merger study at a cost of 88,600, 50% <br />of which would be paid by the City. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council authorized <br />the Police Department to jointly submit with the Henry County Sheriff's <br />Office a grant application to the Virginia Department of Criminal <br />Justice Services for funding to improve the Criminal Records System. <br />It was noted the two agencies previously applied for this grant, <br />however, it was not approved for funding. The total grant amount was <br />$42,600, with the City and County each providing a local match of <br />$5,250. The City's match would be provided with monies received from <br />forfeited assets resulting from drug-law violations. <br /> <br /> <br />
