TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 26, 1995 <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council set public <br />hearings for October 12, 1995 on the following matters: (1) on the <br />City's application to obtain Enterprise Zone status through the <br />Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development; (2) on a <br />request by Jim Warren to rezone Lot 14 located at 608 East Church <br />Street from R-9 Residential to P-2 Professional; and (3) on a request <br />by Piedmont Arts Association to close and abandon an alley located <br />between 215 Starling Avenue and 225 Starling Avenue. <br /> <br />Council acknowledged a financial report for the month ending 8/30/95. <br /> <br />In a matter not on the agenda, Mayor Adams requested a report be <br />presented to Council at its next meeting and.quarterly thereafter on <br />the City's safety program. <br /> <br />In accordance with Section 2.1-344 (A) of the CODE OF VIRGINIA (1950, <br />and as amended) and upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous <br />recorded vote, Council convened into Executive Session for the purpose <br />of discussing the following matters: (1) the possible acquisition of <br />real property for public purposes, as authorized by Subsection 3; and <br />(2) a personnel matter, as authorized by Subsection 1. At the <br />conclusion of this Executive Session, each member of Council certified <br />that (1) only public business matters exempt from open meeting <br />requirements were discussed in said Executive Session; and (2) only <br />those business matters identified in the motion convening the Executive <br />Session were heard, discussed or considered during said Session. <br /> <br />Council took no action on the items discussed in Executive Session. <br /> <br /> <br />
