WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 20, 1995 <br />Council's strategic plan. By January 31, 1996, Council will select six <br />of these groups to visit and present the plan. It was also agreed that <br />by July, 1996, presentations in the major forms of media (newspaper, <br />radio, television) would be ready to be made. In addition, Council's <br />plan will be printed in a future edition of the City Newsletter. <br /> <br />Regarding the ob3ective of releasing policy papers on community issues, <br />it was agreed that these would-include the capital investment plan, the <br />proposed property maintenance code and the City Budget (with Council's <br />approval). The papers would be released by July, 1996 and would be <br />prepared by Staff, with Council approving before release. <br /> <br />The next topic was the planning and implementation of the "Economic <br />Summit". Council named a number of groups which it agreed to contact <br />by January 31, 1996 to determine interest in such an event. <br />Expectations for the meeting would be to identify what each group is <br />doing and to identify any duplicated efforts. Also, the purpose would <br />be to determine how the community is presently coordinating economic <br />development and to determine better methods of enabling future economic <br />development. <br /> <br />The next subject was planning for the Council/School Board Retreat. It <br />was agreed that topics of discussion would include policy papers, <br />reviewing past plans and agreements, coordinating the City's and School <br />Division's financial systems, capital projects planning, and reviewing <br />educational issues such as block scheduling and site-based management. <br /> <br />City Manager Earl B. Reynolds, Jr. reviewed cost estimates of capital <br />investment plans and priorities, which had been presented during the <br /> <br /> <br />
