MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 11, 1995 <br />several instances of problems relating to construction of new <br />residences and the cable company; (8) Judith Mays, of the Bassett area, <br />cited constant problems withl~cable service being out in her area; (9) <br />R. J. Frye, former member of the Board of Supervisors, asked for the <br />cable company to restore two sports channels which had been previously <br />eliminated and also expressed support for a yearly franchise renewal; <br />(10) Henry Gilbert, Director of the 911 Center, asked for several <br />improvements to cable service relating to the Center; (11) H.G. Vaughn, <br />candidate for the Board of Supervisors, asked for a change in the line <br />extension policy in the County to allow for an expansion of service and <br />asked for a 5-year franchise term for the County; (12) Benny Summerlin, <br />Henry County Director of Public Safety, expressed support for emergency <br />alerting capabilities, installation of standby power, support of two- <br />way transmission from the Training Center, and cable service to <br />volunteer fire and rescue stations; (13) Frank Cassell, Henry County <br />Sheriff, asked for cable access to the Henry County Sheriff's Office <br />and the Henry County Jail control system; (14) James Bousman, of <br />Ridgeway, asked for cable service for his area; and (15) William Young, <br />of Bassett, asked for cable service for his area. There being no other <br />persons from the audience wishing to speak, the Chairman and Mayor <br />invited members of the Board of Supervisors and Council to speak. The <br />following made comments: (1) Chairman Zehr stated he felt a 15-year <br />franchise term was too long; (2) Vice-Mayor Oakes expressed concern <br />regarding escalation of cable rates and expressed support for <br />restoration of the sports channels which had been eliminated; (3) <br />Councilman Willjams stated that most comments he had received from <br />citizens regarding the cable company had been negative; (4) Councilman <br />Teague expressed support for increased channels; (5) Councilman <br />Crabtree asked for improved access to the Schools and improved channel <br /> <br /> <br />
