MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 11, 1995 <br /> <br />selection, in particular, the History Channel and C-Span 2; (6) <br />Supervisor Pilson expressed concern regarding the lack of <br /> <br />responsiveness of the cable company to citizens in rural areas; (7) <br />Supervisor Spencer stated the citizens of the Horsepasture district <br />needed better service; (8) Vice-Chairman Burnette reminded those <br />present that the cable franchise is non-exclusive and asked for more <br />choices in programming;and (9) Supervisor Hodges expressed support for <br />a change in the line extension policy to allow for more service in <br />rural areas. <br /> <br />The Chairman and Mayor then offered representatives of Adelphia Cable <br />the opportunity to comment. Joseph Price, Regional Manager, made the <br />following comments: (1) the Cable Act of 1992 had required the Company <br />to place all broadcast stations and other local entities on the <br />broadcast basic service; (2) standby power had been installed at the <br />system headend; (3) it would be no problem to provide emergency <br />override capability for the 911 Center; and (4) the Company had been <br />constructing facilities at a density which is less than that called for <br />in the County's franchise. <br /> <br />The Mayor and Chairman stated that the public hearing would be <br />continued to a later date. Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous <br />vote, Council continued the City's public hearing. <br /> <br />In accordance with Section 2.1-344 (A) of the CODE OF VIRGINIA (1950, <br />and as amended) and upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous <br />recorded vote, Council convened into Executive Session for the purpose <br />of discussing the following matters related to the possible merger of <br />Social Services Agencies: (1) discussion of possible facilities for a <br /> <br /> <br />
