TUESDAY, OCTOBER 27, 1998 <br /> Council Member Dallas complimented City staff on their good work on the demolition of the old <br /> <br />Tultex building at Moss and Fayette Streets. <br /> <br />Mr. Reynolds noted several calendar items for Council' s benefit. <br /> <br /> Tom Hamed, Assistant to the City Manager for Development, noted the fact that the Virginia <br />Association of Quilters had held their most recent convention in the City, drawing more than 175 <br />participants and adding some $20,000 to the local economy. <br /> <br /> Assistant City Manager Dewey P. Cashwell, Jr. noted that a video crew would be in the City <br />during the next week to shoot scenes for an upcoming program on the profession of City/County <br />Management, and that City Manager Reynolds would be highlighted in this video, which was sponsored <br />by the Virginia Local Government Manager' s Association and the International City and County <br />Manager' s Association. <br /> <br /> Assistant City Manager Cashwell also noted that during the next week the City Managers Office <br />would oversee the installation of a new document imaging system which ultimately make Council <br />Minutes and Agendas, as well as a wide variety of other City documents and information, much more <br />accessible to the public. <br /> <br /> Council Member Haskell made note of two upcoming events in the community, a rhythm and <br />blues concert to occur at the High School Auditorium on Thursday, October 29, 1998 and the opening of <br />the new Ice Age Exhibit at the Virginia Museum of Natural History the second week of November. <br /> <br /> <br />
