170 <br /> <br /> TUESDAY, OCTOBER 27. 1998 <br /> Mr. Lafayette Jones, a City resident, asked if the local delegates to the State legislature were being <br /> <br />advised as to the need for better jobs and more State funds for Martinsville~ Mayor Crabtree replied that <br />the legislators were being advised of these and other needs, but that it was difficult to obtain commitments <br />on many items at this time. He went on to review a number of the highest priorities that the City <br />leadership had conveyed to their State representatives, and additional efforts that would be made to keep <br />these issues in the forefront for consideration and action by the legislature. <br /> <br /> Council next considered the need to meet in Executive Session. In accordance with Section 2.1- <br />344 (A) of the CODE OF VIRGINIA (1950, and as amended) and upon motion, duly seconded, and by <br />unanimous recorded vote, Council convened in Executive Session for the purpose of discussing the <br />following matters: <br /> <br />Ao <br /> <br />B. <br /> <br />C. <br /> <br />D. <br /> <br />Possible disposition of publicly-held property, as authorized by Subsection 3. <br />Discuss the condition or use of real property, as authorized by Subsection 3. <br />Consultation with legal counsel, as authorized by Subsection 7. <br /> <br />Consultation with legal counsel pertaining to probable litigation, as authorized by <br />Subsection 7. <br /> <br /> At the conclusion of this Executive Session, each member of Council certified that (1) only public <br />business matters exempt from open meeting requirements were discussed in said Executive Session; and <br />(2) only those business matters identified in the motion convening the Executive Session were heard, <br />discussed, or considered during said Session. <br /> <br />Following their return to open meeting Council took the following actions: <br /> <br />A.
