1.68 <br /> <br />General Fund was exceeding revenue expectations at this time. <br /> <br /> TUESDAY, OCTOBER 27, 1998 <br />He noted particularly the Electric Fund, <br /> <br />which was $460,000 above expectations, presumably as a result of very hot weather experienced in the <br />months of July and August of the current year. Some further discussion took place regarding School <br />System expenditures, and Council Member Haskell noted that the technology expenditures accomplished <br />had provided for the very effective Waterford Reading Systems, among other things. <br /> <br />Council next considered their Consent Agenda. Upon motion by Vice-Mayor Teague and second by <br />Council Member Haskell, and by unanimous vote, all members voting (5-Ayes Crabtree, Teague, <br />Dallas, Haskell and Roop; 0-Nayes), Council approved the following: <br /> <br />Accepted and appropriated $68,379 in Department of Criminal Justice Services grant funds <br />for the Victim-Witness Program, into Revenue Account 01-000500-2403045--Victim- <br />Witness Program and appropriated additional funds in excess of the original amount <br />expected from this grant ($25,299) for expenditure in the various line items of 01-220200 <br />of the Victim-Witness Program in the General Fund. <br /> <br />Accepted and appropriated $300 from the Exchange Club of Martinsville and Henry <br />County to the Fire Department for the Fire Prevention Program, accepting the revenue into <br />Revenue Account 01-000500-1899057--Donations/Fire Department for Expenditure in <br />Account 01-320100-5401020--Fire Prevention Supplies in the Fire Department's budget in <br />the General Fund. <br /> <br /> Under items not on the Agenda the following was discussed: <br /> <br /> Mayor Crabtree noted Council' s unanimous support of the Drug Task Force's Drug Free <br />Community program. <br /> <br /> Council Member Haskell made note of the Constitutional Amendments on the upcoming ballot of <br />the November 3'd Election, and encouraged citizens to vote in favor of Amendments 3 and 4. General <br />discussion then took place among the Council Members concerning the merits of the Amendments in <br />question and all members echoed their support of these issues. <br /> <br /> <br />
