TUESDAY, OCTOBER 13, 1998
Next Council considered the need to Conduct a public hearing to amend the City' s Proposed Land Use

Map to indicate that recently rezoned property located at 1107 Chatham Road be shown as Professional
rather than the present designation of High-Density Residential. Mr. Wayne Knox presented the facts of
the request, noting that this was a "housekeeping matter" involving the correction of existing zoning
maps. Following confirmation by Mr. Knox that there had been no opposition to the amendment
expressed by adjacent land owners the Public Hearing was opened. There were no speakers. The Public
Hearing was then closed, and, upon motion by Vice-Mayor Teague and second by Council Member
Haskell, the amendment was approved by unanimous vote, all members voting (5-Ayes--Crabtree,
Teague, Dallas, Haskell and Roop; 0-Nayes).

161

Council next considered approval, on first reading, of Ordinance No. 98-11 mending Chapter 1.
General Provisions, Section 1-15--Special Court Costs Assessments, Subsection (a) Law Library of the
City Code, providing for the City to increase the fee assessed for civil court cases from $2.00 to $4.00, to
parallel action by Henry County. Mr. Reynolds stated that the funds in question were to be used to
maintain the Law Library that is jointly operated by the City and Henry County at the Henry County
Courthouse, and that in addition to a letter from Judge Charles M. Stone there had been an endorsement
by Judge David V. Williams of the requested fee increase. Council Member Haskell asked how much the
fees would generate and was told that this was not known, but that all the funds would go to the Courts
for support of the law library. Upon motion by Council Member Dallas and second by Council Member
Haskell, and by unanimous vote, all members voting (5-Ayes---Crabtree, Teague, Dallas, Haskell and
Roop; 0-Nayes) Ordinance 98-11 was approved on first reading.

Council next considered their Consent Agenda. Upon motion by Council Member Dallas and
second by Vice-Mayor Teague the following item was approved by unanimous vote, all members voting
(5-Ayes--Crabtree, Teague, Dallas, Haskell and Roop; 0-Nayes):
