i24 <br /> <br />TUESDAY, AUGUST 11, 1998 <br />from State Forfeited Assets into Revenue Account 01-000500-2404020 and appropriated the same <br /> <br />amount for expenditure in Account 01-220100-5415007--State Confiscated Assets in the Commonwealth <br /> <br />Attorney's budget in the General Fund for FY98-99. <br /> <br /> Council discussed a date to conduct its annual Strategic Planning Work Session for 1998. City <br />Manager Earl Reynolds suggested December 3-5, 1998, noting that David Blackman was available for <br />those dates to serve as facilitator. Council agreed to meet at that time. It was noted that a different <br />meeting format was being considered whereby the City Staff would be involved with discussions as well <br />as School Board Members. As a result of this, Council Members Roop and Haskell suggested that the <br />meeting be held in the Martinsville area rather than going away this year. City Administration will try to <br />secure a local location for the meeting. <br /> <br /> Council then reviewed its 1997 Strategic Plan, noting those goals and objectives that had been <br />accomplished and those that are still in progress. Council expressed its pleasure in the fact that it had <br />reached or exceeded many of its goals and objectives and commended the City Administration for its <br />good work in helping to accomplish this. <br /> <br /> Council Member Dallas introduced Mr. Tony Millner, Chairman of the Youth Committee of the <br />Sportsman Club, who was in the audience. Council Member Dallas explained that the Sportsman Club <br />was working with the M-HC Drug Task Force and FOCUS on Youth in planning a Labor Day Cook Out <br />for area youth. Their plans are to have outings/activities on a regular basis to let the youth know that their <br />community cares about them. They are also working with the City and County School Systems on this <br />project whereby the students will need a pass stating they are good students in order to participate in the · <br /> <br /> <br />
