JUNE 9.1998 <br /> <br />WHEREAS, there is a need to amend Article VIII-Payment of Service Charges, Section 8.1 related to the <br />frequency of reading of water meters; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City ofMartinsville, Virginia, in regular session assembled June 9, <br />1998, that it does hereby amend the City's Terms and Conditions for Water and Sewer Service, as follows, to <br />be effective January 1, 1999. <br /> <br />,~, <br /> <br />ARTICLE vm <br /> <br />Payment of Service Charges <br /> <br />Sec. 8.1 <br /> <br />Reeular <br /> <br />Effective January 1, 1999, water meters will be read once every two months. Customers will continue <br />to be billed monthly. For months the meter is read, service charges for both water and sewer will be <br />computed from the actual readings. In months when the meter is not read, the bill will be estimated <br />based on historical usage patterns. <br /> <br />******* <br /> <br />Council next considered their Consent Agenda, consisting of one item. Upon motion duly seconded, and by <br /> <br />unanimous vote Council approved the following: <br /> <br />A Accepted and appropriated $11,534.25 from the State for the Commonwealth Attorney's <br /> <br />Office in the General Fund for the FY97 -98 Budget. These funds were accepted into the <br /> <br />General Fund and the Director of Finance was authorized to transfer $9,690 to the Capital <br /> <br />Reserve Fund ($4,900 for ADP Equipment and $4,790 for Office Equipment) and increase <br /> <br />the Commonwealth Attorney's Non-Capital Equipment line item in the General Fund by <br /> <br />/--.", <br /> <br />$1,844.25. <br /> <br />Under items not on the agenda, Council Member Teague stated that he had received a letter from Adelphia <br /> <br />Cable Television announcing a rate increase, and moved to have the Council send a letter to Adelphia <br />
