Mayor Adams stated that Adelphia was a private sector <br /> <br />company and that the City Council should not interfere with their business decisions. Council Member <br /> <br />Teague's motion was seconded, and the action failed by a two to one vote. <br /> <br />Mayor Adams then noted that Mr. Mike Brennan was scheduled to speak locally on the subject of <br /> <br />~Organizational Structure in the Year 2000, on June 10, 1998. The Mayor also stated that he had received a <br /> <br />letter from Mr. Mike Amyx, Executive Director of the Virginia Municipal League, concerning the formation <br /> <br />by the General Assembly of a new Commission to study the Condition and Future of Virginia Cities, and <br /> <br />suggested that Council might wish to convey their feelings about issues related to this subject to the <br /> <br />Commission. He noted that the first meeting of the Commission was scheduled for July 24, 1998, in <br /> <br />Richmond. Some discussion followed concerning the issues to be conveyed to the Study Commission, and all <br /> <br />the Council Members expressed an interest in following the deliberations of the Commission and attending <br /> <br />their meetings. <br /> <br />City Manager Reynolds reminded Council that their next regular meeting would be a Neighborhood Town <br /> <br />Meeting, to be held Tuesday, June 23, at the Fuller Memorial Baptist Church at 1204 South Askin Street. <br /> <br />Mr. Reynolds noted that a reception would be held at 6:00 P.M. and that the Council Meeting would begin <br /> <br />after that at 7:00 P.M. <br /> <br />Council next considered the need to meet in Executive Session. In accordance with Section 2.1-344 (A) of <br /> <br />the CODE OF VIRGINIA (1950, and as amended) and upon motion, duly seconded, and by unanimous <br /> <br />r-'\ recorded vote, Council convened in Executive Session for the purpose of discussing the following matters: <br /> <br />A Possible disposition of real property for public use, as authorized by Subsection 3. <br /> <br />B. Consultation with legal counsel, as authorized by Subsection 7. <br /> <br />C. Appointments/Reappointments to various Boards/Commissions, as authorized by Subsection 1. <br />Piedmont Planning District Commission Board. <br /> <br />D. A personnel matter under the jurisdiction of City Council, as authorized by Subsection 1. <br />
