TUESDAY~ MAY 12, 1998 by-- the City's Planning, Zoning and Housing Manager, showing the areas hereby declared vacated and abandoned, which map, when and as approved, shall be duly recorded in the Office of the Clerk of Martinsville City Circuit Court: A 10-foot wide and approximately 115.03 feet long alleyway space running in a northerly direction and extending from George Street to an intersecting alley off Townes Street, as shown on the City Tax Map 22, Block 1, containing approximately 1,150 square feet of land. BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED by said Council that, an emergency existing, this ordinance shall be in force immediately upon adoption. B. Request by Earle W. Greene to rezone property located at 1107 Chatham Road (Lots 2, 2A and 3) from R-9 Residential to P-2 Professional - Mr. Knox noted that neighbors of the property in question had expressed concern about traffic and parking related to the new use of the property and he had promised them a careful review of these issues. Mr. Greene stated that demolition of the house on this property and a regrading of the site was the best way to improve the property. There were no speakers at the Public Hearing on this matter. Upon motion duly seconded, by unanimous vote and on an emergency basis, Council adopted the Ordinance on this matter as presented, as follows: AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE ZONING MAP CITY OF MARTINSVILLE BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, in regular session assembled, that in order to assure compliance with Virginia Code Section 15.1-491 (g), it is stated that the public purpose for which this Ordinance is initiated is to fulfill the requirements of public necessity, convenience, general welfare and good zoning practice, that the Zoning Map of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, be-- and is hereby -- amended to the extent that 1107 Chatham Road, Parcel 25 (04) 2, 2A & 3, on the Zoning Map ofthe City of Martinsville is hereby rezoned from R-9 Residential to P-2 Professional. BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED by said Council that, an emergency existing, this ordinance shall be in force immediately upon adoption.
