TUESDAY~ MAY 12, 1998 <br /> <br />by-- the City's Planning, Zoning and Housing Manager, showing the areas hereby declared vacated and <br />abandoned, which map, when and as approved, shall be duly recorded in the Office of the Clerk of <br />Martinsville City Circuit Court: <br /> <br /> A 10-foot wide and approximately 115.03 feet long alleyway space running in a northerly direction <br />and extending from George Street to an intersecting alley off Townes Street, as shown on the City Tax Map <br />22, Block 1, containing approximately 1,150 square feet of land. <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED by said Council that, an emergency existing, this ordinance shall be in force <br />immediately upon adoption. <br /> <br /> B. Request by Earle W. Greene to rezone property located at 1107 Chatham Road (Lots 2, 2A and 3) <br />from R-9 Residential to P-2 Professional - Mr. Knox noted that neighbors of the property in question had <br />expressed concern about traffic and parking related to the new use of the property and he had promised them <br />a careful review of these issues. Mr. Greene stated that demolition of the house on this property and a <br />regrading of the site was the best way to improve the property. There were no speakers at the Public <br />Hearing on this matter. Upon motion duly seconded, by unanimous vote and on an emergency basis, Council <br />adopted the Ordinance on this matter as presented, as follows: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE <br />AMENDING THE ZONING MAP <br />CITY OF MARTINSVILLE <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, in regular session assembled, that in <br />order to assure compliance with Virginia Code Section 15.1-491 (g), it is stated that the public purpose for <br />which this Ordinance is initiated is to fulfill the requirements of public necessity, convenience, general welfare <br />and good zoning practice, that the Zoning Map of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, be-- and is hereby -- <br />amended to the extent that 1107 Chatham Road, Parcel 25 (04) 2, 2A & 3, on the Zoning Map ofthe City of <br />Martinsville is hereby rezoned from R-9 Residential to P-2 Professional. <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED by said Council that, an emergency existing, this ordinance shall be in force <br />immediately upon adoption. <br /> <br /> <br />
