TUESDAY. JUNE24.1997 <br /> <br />facility (the "Project") to be constructed to replace the jail and <br />jail farm currently utilized by the City; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, on February 25, 1997 the Council adopted a resolution re- <br />questing approval for the Project from the State Board of Corrections <br />and agreeing to meet other requirements specified in Title 53.1 of the <br />Code of Virginia to entitle the City to receive twenty-five percent <br />reimbursement for capital costs of the Project from the Commonwealth <br />of Virginia; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Council also wishes to seek reimbursement of certain <br />financing costs to be incurred in the financing of the Project; now, <br />therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED, by the Martinsville City Council in regular session <br />assembled on this 24th day of June, 1997, that: <br /> <br />1. The City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to execute the <br />attached Local/Regional Jail Construction Financing Reimbursement <br />Funding Request Application, with all documents attached thereto, and <br />submit the same to the Governor of Virginia, c/o the Department of the <br />Treasury, so that the Application is received no later than June 30, <br />1997; and <br /> <br />2. This resolution shall take effect immediately. <br /> <br />3.91 <br /> <br /> Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council approved the <br /> appropriation of $64,461 to complete certain aspects of the temporary <br /> jail facility, those being a sprinkler system, security fencing, and <br /> construction incentive funds, funds to be provided and allocated as <br /> follows: $32,231 from the Unexpended Fund Balance of the Electric Fund <br /> and $32,230 from the Unexpended Fund Balance of the Water Fund, all to <br /> <br /> be allocated to the General Fund Account 01-910600-7009000--Temporary <br />f-~inmate Shelter Project. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council approved <br />appropriation of $70,000 to complete necessary building improvements <br />to the City-owned old Dodge property on Moss Street, used by Patrick <br />Henry Community College, said funds to be appropriated from the <br /> <br /> <br />
