TUESDAY, APRIL 22, 1997 <br /> <br />revenues to fund. the position had not been included. Finance Director <br />Richard Fitts stated he would adjust the budget to reflect the <br />additional revenues, with the understanding that both revenues and <br />expenses would not materialize if State funding for the new position <br />was not approved. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council eliminated <br />funding in the amount of 83,133 for the Western Virginia EMS Council, <br />as proposed by the City Manager. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council reduced the <br />budget of the Sheriff Courts Division by $6,200, contained in the <br />travel and training line items. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council accepted the <br />City Manager's recommendation to reduce the Sheriff Jail Division by <br />$66,638. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council accepted the <br />City Manager'.s recommendation to reduce the Risk Management Division by <br />$10,000. <br /> <br />Council Member Dallas made a motion to accept the City Manager's <br />recommendation that $11,500 in funding for the VPI Extension Service be <br />eliminated. The motion died for lack of a second. Upon motion, duly <br />seconded and by a vote of 4-1 (Council Member Dallas opposing), Council <br />reduced the VPI Extension Service line item by $500. <br /> <br />Mayor Adams made a motion to reduce funding for the Martinsville Uptown <br /> <br /> <br />
