TUESDAY, JANUARY 14, 1997 <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council approved the <br />following items: (1) acceptance of $8,972.52 received from the State <br />Forfeited Asset Sharing Program through the Department of Criminal <br />Justice Services; funds to be appropriated as follows: $8,269.67 to the <br />Police Department and $702.85 to the Commonwealth Attorney's Office; <br />(2) acceptance of 8150 received from the Rotary Club of Martinsville <br />and Henry County and an anonymous donor to be appropriated to the <br />Police Department's K-9 Program; and (3) acceptance of $1,000 donated <br />by the Drug Task Force, Inc. to be appropriated to the Police <br />Department's D.A.R.E. Program. <br /> <br />Council considered approval of a Citizen Survey form developed by the <br />City Administration. Council requested that a question be added to <br />gauge interest in the provision of public transportation in the City. <br />Council reviewed the form and made several suggestions to Mr. Reynolds <br />regarding the Survey. Mr. Reynolds stated he would modify the draft <br />and provide it for Council review prior to mailing. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and by unanimous vote, Council set a public <br />hearing for January 28, 1997 on a request by Liberty Healthcare, owner <br />of the Blue Ridge Rehabilitation Center, for a Special Use Permit to <br />construct 80 assisted living units, 53 independent living units, and a <br />clubhouse at 300 Blue Ridge Street. <br /> <br />Council acknowledged a financial report for the month ending November <br />30, 1996o <br /> <br />At this point, the meeting of City Council was declared in recess and <br />a meeting of the Martinsville Redevelopment and Housing Authority was <br /> <br /> <br />
