Continuance of the exemption shall be contingent on the continued use of the property in accordance with the purpose for which the <br />organization is classified or designated. <br /> <br />On a motion by James Clark, seconded by Gene Teague, with the following <br />recorded vote: Mr. Reynolds, aye; Mr. Clark, aye; Mrs. Lawson, aye; Mr. Ferrill, aye; <br />and Mr. Teague, aye, Council approved the following ordinance, on second reading, <br />granting personal property tax exemption to Gateway Streetscape Foundation as a <br />benevolent organization: <br /> <br />ORDINANCE 2008- <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville. Virginia. in rcgular session held on March 25. 2008 and <br />pursuant to Section 58.1-3651 of the Code of Virginia. that Section 21-12 of the City Code be amended to add a subsection G as follows: <br />G. Taxation exemption for Gateway Streetscape Foundation, Inc. <br />After convening a duly advertised public hearing and considering the factors set forth in Code of Virginia 9 58.1-3651 (B). the City <br />Council of Martinsville Virginia hereby ordains the following: <br />I. The Gateway Streetscape Foundation. Inc.. a nonprofit organization. is hereby classified and designated as a benevolent organization <br />within the context of Section 6(a)( 6) of Article X of the Constitution of Virginia. <br />2. Personal property owned by Gateway Streetscape Foundation. Inc.. and used exclusively for benevolent purposes on a nonprofit basis. <br />as set forth in paragraph I of this subsection. is hereby determined to be exempt from local personal property taxation. <br />3. Continuance of the exemption shall be contingent on the continued use of the property in accordance with the purpose for which the <br />organization is classified or designated. <br /> <br />After comments by Robin Hairfield of We Care and Council discussion, a motion was <br />made by James Clark, seconded by Kathy Lawson, to amend the ordinance, on <br />second reading, granting personal property tax exemption as well as real estate tax <br />exemption to We Care, Inc. as a benevolent organization. On a motion by Gene <br />Teague, seconded by Ron Ferrill, with the following recorded vote: Mr. Reynolds, <br />aye; Mr. Clark, aye; Mrs. Lawson, aye; Mr. Ferrill, aye; and Mr. Teague, aye, Council <br />approved the following amended ordinance granting personal property and real <br />estate tax exemption to We Care, Inc.: <br /> <br />Ordinance 2008- ~ <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville. Virginia. in regular session held on March 25. 2008 and <br />pursuant to Section 58.1-3651 of the Code of Virginia. that Section 21-12 of the City Code be amended to add a subsection I as follows: <br />Taxation exemption for WeCare, Inc. <br />After convening a duly advertised public hearing and considering the factors set forth in Code of Virginia 9 58.1-3651 (B). the City <br />Council of Martinsville Virginia hereby ordains the following: <br />I. Inc.. and used exclusively for benevolent purposes on a nonprofit basis. as set forth in <br />paragraph I of this subsection. is hereby determined to be exempt from local real and personal property taxation. <br />3.
